Track and Field: Union Catholic's Reilly Breaks School Record, Brown Blasts Fast 600 Win - TAPinto.net

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Elijah Brown and Conor Reilly turned in sensational performances to highlight a great weekend for the Union Catholic track and field teams. Brown blasted a sizzling victory in the 600-meter run at Saturday's Molloy Stanner Games at the 168th Street Armory in New York.

In a matchup between two of the state's best in the 600, the George Mason-bound Brown, who won the 800 at the Meet of Champions last winter, moved to NJ#2 and US#4 with a winning time of 1:21.11. Junior Domenick Wallace of Morris Hills, competing in his first indoor season, was second to Brown in 1:22.63. Wallace has run a US#5 1:21.80 this season. Pleasantville senior Gabriel Moronta is the NJ leader and US#3 with a 1:20.90.

In other highlights for the Vikings at the Stanner Games, Myles Plummer finished fourth in the mile in 4:22.39, the third fastest time in the nation among sophomore. In the 300 trials, senior Tyhir Jones ran 35.65, and junior Connor Cooper ran a personal best of 36.68.

At Saturday's Lavino Relays in Lawrenceville, Reilly broke the UC boys school indoor record in the pole vault and was a member of two winning teams, and Alexandra Bonn was a double-winner for the Union Catholic girls

Reilly, senior, soared over the bar at 15-6 in the pole vault, tied for No. 3 in the state this season, to break the Union Catholic school indoor record. Reilly's 15-6 also broke his personal best of 15-3 that he cleared last spring, and it helped UC break the school two-man indoor PV record as Reilly and Justin Lopez (12-0) combined for a winning total of 27-6.

In addition to his record stetting exploits in the pole vault, Reilly also soared 21-2 when he teamed up with Oluwafemi Asenuga (20-8) to win the team long jump.

On the girls side, UC won the 4x200 in 1:46.31, and finished first in the long jump and triple jump.

Bonn, one of most talented freshman stars in the state, leaped 17-0 when she teamed with A'Liyah Taylor (16-7) to win the long jump, and went 34-0 in the triple jump when she and Felicia Quainoo (36-1) combined to finish first.
