With two touchdowns in their first five offensive snaps against Kansas, the Baylor Bears (10-1) flew out to a fast start against the Jayhawks en route to a dominant first half. A game that some had circled as a trap with an improving Kansas team turned into a blowout through the first 30-minutes of action. It was a 34-0 lead in a game that was pretty much all Baylor from the start.
Kansas had a nice first drive, going 48-yards and converting five first downs before a 4th and 11 pass from senior quarterback Carter Stanley fell incomplete. That drive was the high point of the first half against the 9th ranked Baylor Bears, unless you could two tremendous punts with the wind aiding a 73 and 68 yard punt.
The Bears would respond quickly, scoring a touchdown in four plays. A John Lovett 30-yard run started the drive before Charlie Brewer found Denzel Mims and Josh Fleeks for gains of 12 and 25-yards. A 6-yard Gerry Bohanon run capped the drive and put Baylor up 7-0.
After a Kansas three-and-out, the wind simply caught the ball and pushed it out of bounds for just a 17-yard gain. It would take one play for Baylor to get back into the endzone courtesy of a Charlie Brewer 51-yard pass to Tyquan Thornton. Up 14-0, the Bears defense would take over the game. A second straight three and out would give the Bears another shot in the first quarter to get out to a fast lead. They would go 13-plays and cover 75-yards ending with a 13-yard JaMycal Hasty touchdown to go up 21-0.
The second quarter would be just as difficult for Kansas, even with the wind at their backs. A failed fourth and 1 inside their own 35-yard line resulted in Terrel Bernard stopping Kansas running back Pooka Williams for no-gain. The Bears drive would end in a short John Mayers field goal from 24-yard out to to up 24-0.
Forcing another three-and-out for the Kansas offense, the Bears offensive attack would finally be slowed down. A 7-play, 39 yard drive would result in the Bears first punt of the game, but a Kansas blocker would touch the ball giving Baylor possession at the 30-yard line. Three plays later, Trestan Ebner would waltz into the endzone and put Baylor up 31-0.

After a series of punts, and Baylor being pinned deep inside its own territory, a second muffed punt by Kansas would set them up with good field position. Baylor would squander it though, with Charlie Brewer forcing a pass deep down the middle to sophomore receiver Josh Fleeks for an interception.
Baylor would get it back though, courtesy of a Henry Black interception over the middle that was deflected by the Kansas receiver. Black was in the right place at the right time. The Bears would fall short of the end-zone, but settle for a short John Mayers field goal for a 34-0 lead going into the second half.
