Chris “Ludacris” Bridges said in a recent interview that his upcoming film “Fast & Furious 9” could honor Kobe Bryant and Paul Walker.
What he said: Bridges talked to Entertainment Tonight about the new film’s cast, which united around each other in the face of tragedy following the passing of Walker a few years ago. Now, Bryant may also receive a tribute.
- Bridges: “We start off with prayers, we always talk about family and how important family is and this is a whole family. This entire cast, I’m talking about on and off-screen. I think that’s what makes our chemistry so well. It’s always in remembrance and in motivation of how we’re doing our duty and honoring Paul Walker and now even Kobe Bryant. Making sure we do everything in our power to make the best movie possible. So that it resonates with everyone.”
Similar: Vin Diesel said the film will have “something so special about Kobe,” according to ComicBook.com.
- Diesel: “It’s such a shock for us. The world was rocked to the core. He made this world a better world, and for some reason … obviously, there’s the Pablo comparison, the Paul Walker comparison, but what’s ironic is (Kobe) would say to me, ‘How are you doing? I know you miss your brother, Pablo.’”
Another tribute: Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth paid tribute to Kobe Bryant at the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Portland Trail Blazers last week by singing “See You Again,” the theme song from “Furious 7” — the last film in the “Fast and Furious” saga featuring Paul Walker, according to Billboard.com.
Release date: “Fast 9” hits theaters May 22, 2020.
